Hi there — welcome to Adams Photography & Creative Design.

I’m Troy Adams, the heart and hands behind the lens, based in Newcastle, NSW. I’ve always believed that moments worth remembering deserve to be captured with care — not just technically, but in a way that feels honest, intentional, and true to the people behind them.

Photography isn’t just what I do — it’s how I connect with stories. While I’m increasingly known for my work with dance studios and performers, my approach carries across everything I photograph. Dance has shaped the way I see light, timing, movement, and emotion — and that awareness flows naturally into weddings, commercial photography, portraits, and real estate imagery.

At the end of the day, photos aren’t just images — they’re something you come back to.

A Considered, Creative Approach

I don’t believe in rushing or working to a formula.

Every shoot begins with understanding what the images need to achieve — whether that’s representing a dance studio’s identity, capturing a once-in-a-lifetime wedding, promoting a business, or showcasing a property at its absolute best. I work closely with clients to create imagery that feels cohesive, elevated, and purposeful rather than generic.

Many sessions are photographed on location, using controlled lighting and a studio-style approach where needed, then refined through careful post-production. The goal is always the same: clean, professional images that enhance the subject without overpowering it.

A Foundation in Dance & Movement

My connection to dance runs deeper than photography alone.

Years of working alongside dancers and studios have shaped how I see — not just performance, but preparation, discipline, and the subtle moments that exist between movements. Dance has taught me how to anticipate timing, recognise intention in a body line, and respect the work that happens long before the spotlight turns on.

That influence sits at the core of my creative process. Even when I’m photographing outside the dance world, that understanding of balance, expression, and flow continues to guide how I frame and light an image.

A Technical Eye for Spaces & Structure

Alongside my creative background, I bring a strong foundation in building, construction, and technical systems.

This experience plays a key role in my commercial and real estate photography. I don’t just photograph how a space looks — I understand how it functions, how it’s built, and how light interacts with form and structure. This allows me to create imagery that feels accurate, intentional, and visually clear for builders, designers, agents, and buyers alike.

It’s a practical skillset that complements creativity, ensuring spaces are represented honestly and professionally.

Years of Storytelling Through Weddings

Weddings have also been a significant part of my photographic journey.

Over many years capturing weddings across NSW, I’ve learned how to work calmly under pressure, adapt quickly to changing conditions, and document real moments as they unfold. That experience sharpened my ability to tell a complete story — a skill that continues to inform every genre I photograph today.

It taught me how to read people, anticipate emotion, and stay grounded in moments that truly matter.

Who I Work With

My work spans a range of creative and professional photography, including:

  • Dance & performance photography for studios and individual dancers
  • Wedding photography, capturing genuine moments and connections
  • Commercial, branding and promotional photography
  • Real estate and aerial photography

Each project receives the same level of care and attention, regardless of size.

Based in Newcastle, Working Across NSW

I’m proudly based in Newcastle, and regularly work throughout the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Sydney and beyond. While my focus continues to lean toward dance and creative studio work, I value the breadth of experience that allows me to approach every project with both heart and understanding.

Movement, structure, and storytelling — each background informs the other. Together, they shape imagery that feels considered, authentic, and built to last.

If you’re looking for photography that’s warm, creative, and quietly confident — you’re in the right place.
