I got the opportunity to do a fun little shoot last week for a new cafe opening up in Wallsend for breakfast and lunch called Lucios
Food Photography is certainly interesting, but you have to be set up and ready to go, especially when shooting plates and dishes prepared fresh, so they look realistic for the new menu.

I mean, obviously things are not always as they seem, but my style of shooting is to try and shoot what comes from the kitchen on a normal day. That way customers are not disappointed with a tiny sloppy burger, or a crappy chucked together salad bowl thats missing half the ingredients.

So having the right equipment, which involves lighting and the right camera/lens combination is a must. I also like to use backgrounds or props from the cafe or restaurant, which also creates this feeling that the food you see in the images, was not only set up and photographed here, but prepared here, right where you are dining. This in turn will give off a lasting impression to the customer, which is and should always be a good one. You want them back to dine again, correct?
So if you set up and fake each and every image, then display that as your product, then on the day the customer is not satisfied with what they are served, you have immediately left them with a bad taste in their mouths, before they have even tried the food. Remember we eat with our eyes.

So I take the opportunity to make sure each and every photo is perfect and portrays the product in its best form. And let’s face it, food is always such an interesting thing to look at, as it invokes all the senses and creates an urge to want more.
So if you are a new Cafe, just starting out. Or perhaps an established restaurant that could do with a refresh of your current menu. And let’s face it, your online presence these days is just as important as when people walk in the door. Because this is how we get them there. Then please get in contact with us here at Adams Photography and we can discuss an affordable and realistic approach toy creating new and fresh images for you.
